Professor Songül Fiat Varol is a faculty member at Manisa Celal Bayar University in the Department of Electrical and Energy Engineering. Her primary research interests are in materials science, with a special focus on semiconductor materials and devices, including solar cells and light-emitting diodes (LEDs/OLEDs). She has published more than 50 scientific papers in internationally recognized journals and has supervised numerous Ph.D. and M.Sc. students. In addition, she has coordinated several national and international research projects and has participated in over 70 international scientific conferences and meetings as a keynote speaker, invited speaker, presenter, and organizing committee member. Dr. Varol has also conducted significant research on chalcopyrite solar cells in collaboration with Professor Michael Kompitsas, Director of the Theoretical and Physical Chemistry Institute at the National Hellenic Research Foundation in Greece. This work was carried out under the TÜBİTAK 2214 International Research Fellowship Programme for PhD Students, particularly within the Laser-based Techniques and Applications (LATA) group. Her research includes the production and characterization of advanced organic and inorganic thin-film materials such as ZnO, TiO₂, Cu(In,Ga)Se(Te), and nitrides like GaN and AlN. She continues to focus on the development and performance enhancement of organic/inorganic LED and photovoltaic (PV) devices.
