Sam Park is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Louisville and Director of the University of Louisville site of the NSF Industry–University Cooperative Research Center for Efficient Vehicles and Sustainable Transportation Systems (EVSTS). His research focuses on advanced battery systems for electric vehicles, including lithium-ion, sodium/potassium batteries, battery thermal management, and battery health and safety sensing. He has led or co-led more than $3.4M in funded research, including NSF IUCRC support and major industrial collaborations on high-voltage electrolytes and EV battery modules. His widely cited work on batteries, redox flow batteries, and EV battery thermal analysis has contributed to safer, higher-energy, and more reliable energy storage systems. Dr. Park has also served on multiple NSF review panels in batteries, energy storage, sensors, and catalysis.
